About Me

Welcome to Fashion Travel Dreams, a blog about fashion, travel, and making your dreams a reality.

My name is Christina. By day, I'm a flight attendant. By night, I'm a blogger, cosplayer, fashion designer, martial artist, wife, mom to three nerdlings, and a dreamer. I'm also a pet mom to one dog, two cats, and two Guinea pigs.

I grew up in Red Wing, Minnesota. Went to college at Minnesota State University, Mankato where I graduated with a degree in biology (concentrated in zoology) and minored in geography and creative writing. After college, my husband and I moved to South Korea, where we taught English as a second language to engineers and VPs at Samsung. Then we moved to Japan, first to Miyagi Prefecture then Yamaguchi Prefecture, where we taught English to all ages, from 1st year Kindergarteners to retired adults. Then I got pregnant with my first child and moved back home.

Three kids later, I started working at a fabric store as a sewing instructor. Then I was a cashier, then a part-time manager, then the assistant store manager. A full time job with paid time off allowed me to travel and cosplay like I never had before. 4th of July at my in-laws at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Christmas and New Year's on the islands of Hawaii and Maui. A long overdue visit to my bestie in Japan (whom I hadn't seen in 15 years). A martial arts study tour in South Korea. And numerous sci fi, anime, and gaming conventions with my husband and kids.

Everything was perfect. Life was wonderful. Then I lost my job.

While my career is different, my heart is the same. Except now I get to work above the clouds.

Packing

I have a love / hate relationship with packing. I love packing because it means that I'll soon be going on a new adventure. But I hate packing because it means I have to decide what I will and won't have with me for the next however many days I am gone.  As a result, I have a tendency to overpack. I like to lay everything out on my bed in what my husband refers to as an organized smorgasbord of chaos. Stay tuned for pictures and why my kids hope will be the start of my YouTube channel.

All Good Things Must Come to an End

One of the downsides to travel is when the adventure comes to an end and you need to return home. This was a post I started writing at the Chicago airport on my way back from Japan. I meant to post about my trip to Japan while I was actually in Japan, but that never happened. As one travel journey ends, a new one can begin. In a week, I'll be going to my in-law's lake house on Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. And in October, I'll be returning to South Korea. Lots to look forward to.
